Our team is is composed of TPI Certified Golf Instructors, TPI Certified Physical Therapists, a Sports Nutritionist and a Fitness Coach. We are all dedicated to supporting golfers of every skill level – from juniors too professionals. Each specialist brings extensive experience and expertise ensuring you receive the most advanced, up-to-date instruction and treatment available.

PGA Golf Instructors

 Randy Chang

Randy Chang is a PGA Golf Professional certified in Teaching/ Coaching and founder of the Randy Chang Golf Schools, owning and managing multiple facilities throughout Southern California. He has been recognized by the PGA and golf industry with multiple awards over his 40 years of professional golf experience and He played for the University of Portland golf team on scholarship for 3 years. After college he turned professional and played on various mini tours in Southern California and Canada. Randy’s approach to instruction is to S.U.R.F; Simplicity, Understanding, Retention, and most important, FUN. He believes that today’s technology and training techniques help to speed up the learning process for the student which makes it more enjoyable and easier to comprehend. Randy has been a Golf Channel Academy lead instructor for the past 3 years and has been featured live on the Golf Channel Morning Drive program, Golf Life on Fox Sports, and his numerous tips have been aired nationally on the Golf Channel.

 Jim Hartnett

Jim Hartnett has been a PGA Professional for more than 25 years. He has worked with all levels of players including many tour-winning players from around the world. He worked at several top facilities including PGA West, Kapalua, Sahalee Country Club, and also worked for Jim McLean. He was the first in the golf industry to correlate eye dominance with golf motor patterns and has published 2 books, Golf for the other 80%, and Pro Shot Golf. Jim specializes in working with golfers on maximizing their visual precision with GCP’s Vizual Edge program. Additionally, Jim is trained on KVest, force plates, and other leading golf technologies.

 Travis Nelson

Growing up in Dana Point, CA, Travis was a student of all sports. He enjoyed playing them all, but when it came down to it, golf grabbed a hold of him and never let go. As a PGA member, TPI Golf Level 3 and PGA.coach certified instructor, Travis’ approach starts with the athlete. Utilization of high speed video, Swing Catalyst, K-Motion technology and launch monitors have provided further insight of the athlete in motion. Biomechanics, body-swing connection, feel, sound, rhythm, flow, are focal points he believes in and trusts will get you enjoying playing the game. His teaching experience began in 2006 and has been a lead instructor at Big Canyon Country Club since 2015. His wife Erin and three young children Courtlynn, Jordy and Bodie live in Aliso Viejo. They all enjoy working out, playing sports, the beach, mountains and travel adventures.

Physical Therapists

 Dr. Matthew Olesen

Dr. Olesen has been working with athletes both as a Physical Therapist and certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist for over 25 years. He is TPI Certified Level 3 Medical. He is passionate about golf, continuously studying and refining his understanding of the game. His dedication to both learning and playing the game helps formulate his holistic approach to golf performance and therapy making him an invaluable resource for golfers at every level.

 Dr. John Thomas

Dr. Thomas is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and is TPI Certified Level 3 Medical, Level 2 Fitness, Level 2 Junior, and Level 3 Power. He is the owner of LOR Physical Therapy and Wellness where he has been treating golfers since 1999. Dr. Thomas is committed to both studying and playing the game ensuring that his approach to golf performance and therapy is grounded in practical, first hand experience.

Sports Nutritionist

 Melissa Mathes

Melissa Mathes is a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), an expert in medical nutrition therapy and holds a specialized certification in sports nutrition/dietetics (CSSD). She provides specific nutrition recommendations based on your injury (whether bone, muscle, ligament or tendon) to nourish injured tissue and aid in a healthy, quicker recovery. She provides individualized nutrition plans addressing your current issues, while supporting overall health, decreasing risk of future injuries, and supporting optimal movement and sport performance.

Golf Fitness Specialist

 Ana Gonzalez

Ana Gonzalez is a certified personal trainer and sports performance/rehabilitation coach that has worked extensively with athletes guiding them toward achieving their sports specific goals. Ana played soccer at Marymount University which fueled her passion for sports rehabilitation. Ana is TPI Level 1 certified and is very enthusiastic about expanding my knowledge and collaborating with exceptional individuals in this sport. Additionally, Ana serves as a coach at Mater Dei High School, further immersing herself in the world of sports.
